In 2006 Denlinger started creating drawings as a way to continue to get ideas out without rushing her photographic process. She deals with many similar themes in her drawings and photographs, but with the drawings there is an extra layer of playfulness and pathos due to their style being similar to children’s drawings and illustration.

Denlinger's recent drawing are a manifestation of the art she would have made as a child if she had been born a boy. For this series in particular she is using a significant amount of pinks and purples in her palette to play with stereotypical notions of masculine vs feminine. These images also represent a way for her to continue to address themes of war in a more generic sense.
